Terra Incognita

I am about to enter the unknown. Actually, two unknowns.

For the first time in almost half a century (junior year abroad in Spain), I will embark alone to a never-before-visited land.

And, for the first time ever, I–endowed with the technological savvy of a slime mold–will send back messages of my journey through this blog site.

These early posts will be akin to a restaurant’s soft opening, imperfect drafts to share with friends and relatives, curious acquaintances, and the occasional adventurous browser who somehow stumbles upon them within the vast realm of the World Wide Web.

All are welcome.

The posts will mix notes from my trip to Chile with snippets of nature, history, culture, books, and my novel-in-progress, the reason I give for going there.

Thanks for joining me.
